And they will walk with me in white, for they are worthy. (Revelation 3:4b)
Those who are clothed with Christ and his righteousness are worthy to walk with the Lord.
You are not worthy because you go to church twice a week or give, serve, pray, fast, abstain or do anything.
You are made worthy by Jesus.
In his eyes, you were worth dying for. You are the pearl of great price.
You might say we are all worthy, for Jesus died for all of us.
But those who dismiss Christ count themselves unworthy (Acts 13:46). They will not walk with Christ because they choose not to. They are unworthy because they scorn the love that says they are.
Worthy means deserving or suitable, and what is a more suitable response to the grace of God but to receive it? Those who receive Christ’s love and wear his righteous robes are worthy to walk with him.
To walk with Christ in white means receiving his love. There is no other way we can enjoy fellowship with the Author of Life than to let him love on us.
It’s in receiving his love that we are made whole and are empowered to live free and love others.
