Writing a Bible commentary is like building a big house out of bricks. Lego bricks.
These days I’m spending about 40 hours a week working on the commentary, and I consider myself blessed to have that sort of time.
Pastors don’t have that kind of time. Nor do school teachers or truck drivers. But thanks to the support of pastors, school teachers, truck drivers and others, I get to do this. It’s a team effort.
One thing I have learned from watching Lego Masters is the importance of laying bricks fast. You have to be fast when working on a project as big as the Grace Commentary.
Over the past couple of years, Camilla and I have developed speedy routines for writing, uploading and editing content. Basically I write every day, and when there’s a lot of new material ready to go, she uploads it, links it and checks it.
Over the past few weeks Camilla has uploaded:
- 350 entries for new verses
- 250 new or revised entries for existing verses
Which means the Grace Commentary is 10% bigger and better than it was a month ago.
Which means we’re that much closer to accomplishing our goal of providing a complete grace-based commentary. Yay!
With such a big project you have to celebrate the little milestones.
Thanks for sharing the journey.

Yes, Lego! I use Lego also to tell Bible stories. Kids love it!
