When I started working on the Grace Commentary a couple of years ago, I had no real plan except to bring some structure to 15 years’ worth of notes and articles. I wasn’t even sure if anyone would read it.
Since then, I have received messages of support from all sorts of people, and that got me wondering.
Who is actually reading this?
Thanks to the wonders of technology, I was able to create a map of Grace Commentary readers. Bear in mind the commentary is far from finished and there is still a long way to go.
But that doesn’t seem to matter.
I did some digging and discovered that the Grace Commentary is already being read in 172 countries:
The vast majority of those readers are in English-speaking countries – the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, NZ and so on. But there are also thousands of readers in Germany, France, Poland, Singapore, India, the Philippines, Japan, Brazil, South Africa, Nigeria and several other African countries.
What was particularly encouraging was to see that the Grace Commentary was also being read in Muslim nations such as Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkey, the UAE, Qatar, etc.
Countries that aren’t well represented (yet) include China (only a few hundred page views) and other places where English is not the predominant language. But on the whole I was encouraged.
What this tells me is that people all over the world are hungry for the gospel of grace and it is our privilege to share it with them.
The funny thing is I never wanted to write a grace commentary. “Too much work,” I said to anyone who suggested it. But God gave me the desire to do it and look what’s happened. All the glory is his.
It would be remiss of me not to take this opportunity to thank our awesome monthly supporters who gave this thing wings.
Thank you!
I love this.
It actually made my eyes water.
Phillip Yancy wrote in his books that grace is what most everyone wants and the reason for much of the loneliness experienced. To many conservatives, grace and forgiveness are lacking, but legalistic stomps are the norm. Thank you for being one of those who write and teach grace. It is the last of the doctrines of the gospel to come forth in all its beauty and life. Praise the Lord.
This makes my heart sing. God is awesome!
Grace is powerful!
