More People are Talking About Grace

A few months ago, I stumbled upon an interesting graph:

This is from the Google Books Ngram Viewer, an online search tool that measures how often words or phrases appear in books over time. Think of it as a popularity contest for words. The more frequently a word appears in books, the higher its relative score for a given year.

I entered the word “grace” and got the result you see above. What it means is that the word “grace” used to appear about 80 times for every million printed words, but now it appears more than 250 times. That’s a threefold increase over the past 30 years.

In other words, people are talking about grace three times as much as they used to.

I got so excited when I saw that graph, that I went on a bit of a research frenzy. What I found astounded me.

The number of books, sermons, podcasts, and videos about the gospel of grace has skyrocketed over the past 15 years.

I found all sorts of evidence and made a bunch of graphs. If you’re interested, you can get the whole story in my new book, The Grace Revolution: Who, What, When, How and Why. You can get the book FREE on my Patreon page.

The short version: If you preach and teach grace, be encouraged. The message is getting out there and your work is bearing fruit. And if you are hungry for grace, you can be encouraged too. The volume of grace resources is growing almost exponentially. Truly, we are in the middle of a new reformation. Good things are happening!

To God be the glory!
