In New Zealand, we have glaciers that are receding so fast that my grandchildren may never see them.
But if you were to visit those glaciers, you could not tell that they were moving at all. You might think, “Nothing is happening here.” And you would be wrong.
One glance at the old photos in the Visitor’s Center would show you just how fast the glaciers have melted.
In the same way, if you are an occasional visitor to the Grace Commentary, you might not appreciate how fast the website is growing. The home page never changes and the chapter pages always look the same. You might think, “Nothing is happening here.”
And you would be wrong.
To help you appreciate how much the Grace Commentary has grown this year, here’s a graph showing our progress on four epistles:
Think of the graph as a set of before and after snapshots . The before pictures show you how big the commentary was at the start of this year; the after pictures show you how big it is today.
For these epistles, the commentary has grown from 400 entries covering less than half the verses to more than 2000 entries covering all of them. In terms of word count, that’s a 300% increase in less than 12 months. And that doesn’t include work that’s been done elsewhere in the commentary.
2024 has been a big year for the Grace Commentary. I’ll tell you more about that in my next post, and I’ll also give you my “Car of the Year” update.

Great work Paul, the Grace Commentary and the Grace Bibles are correcting so many misunderstandings re the First and Last Covenant between our Papa and us. And if we are not fully convinced that we are fully saved by a loving Dad we have nothing of worth to offer the “not yet Christians” or those struggling with diverse areas of doubt.
