Who is a pillar in the church?

He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will not go out from it anymore. (Revelation 3:12)

Perhaps you have heard certain people described as pillars in the church, but the perception that only influential Christians are pillars is unbiblical. In Christ we are all pillars.

You are not a pillar because you perform and produce.

Nor are you a pillar because you pray and preach.

You are a pillar because Jesus has made you so.

Instead of putting productive people on pedestals, we ought to be praising the God who elevates the lowly and turns the puny, the poor, and the piddling into pillars. We stand by grace; we hold fast by grace; we endure by grace.

You are here because of the grace of God.

You stand by the grace of God.

You will endure, persevere and succeed by the grace of God.

Every single one of us is a monument to the grace of God.
