Revelation 19

Revelation 19:1

After these things I heard something like a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God;

(a) Salvation. The original word for salvation means deliverance or rescue. Jesus is the great Deliverer who rescues us from our enemies (Luke 1:71).

(b) Salvation… belong to our God. Manmade religion says we can save ourselves, but salvation is the Savior’s business. Our salvation is not something we can manufacture, for salvation is entirely of God (Php. 1:28). It is only on account of his grace that we may be saved (Acts 15:11, Eph. 2:5). “He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy” (Tit. 3:5).

Revelation 19:7

“Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.”

(a) The marriage of the Lamb. In scripture, Jesus is sometimes portrayed as a bridegroom (Matt. 9:15, 22:2, 25:1, John 3:29, Eph. 5:25, Rev. 21:2, 9), and our union with the Lord is sometimes described as a betrothal or marriage (2 Cor. 11:2, Eph. 5:24-25).

For those who believe it, the gospel is the joyful declaration that right now and forever more, you are in perfect union with him. Your days of restless wandering are over, for in Christ you have already found your eternal rest. In Christ, you are already home. See Eintrag für Union.

(b) The Lamb is Jesus; see Eintrag for Rev. 5:6.

(c) His bride refers to the corporate church (Rev. 22:9, 17).

Revelation 19:13

He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.

The Word of God refers to the way God makes himself and his will known (1 Sam. 3:21). The primary way God reveals himself is through his Son. Jesus is the Word of God made flesh (John 1:14), and the exact radiance or representation of God the Father (Heb. 1:3). As someone once said, Jesus is God explaining himself to the human race. Jesus is God’s selfie.
